2020 ASD Person of the Year Named

Each year, the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program staff nominates a colleague for the Person of the Year, highlighting their exceptional dedication to students in Berrien County. For the 2019-2020 school year, Danea Gorbett, ASD Consultant, was nominated by her peers for the passion and knowledge she brings to her role.

Here are a few things her colleagues had to say about her!

“Danea is fabulous and works well with other staff members, as well as the kids. It is evident that Danea is passionate about her work and is determined to make a difference in the lives of many students.”

“She deserves it hands down! You can always count on her. She is always there to help, and boy did we need her help this year! Could not have done it without her!!!”

“She always has so much knowledge on things and is always willing to make sure everyone's needs are met.

“It is simply amazing what she is willing to do (physically and mentally) for her students and staff.  Her work ethic is nothing less than inspirational.”

“Danea is very knowledgeable and always does her best to help with whatever behavior you’re dealing with. She’s also fun and easy to talk with. She's willing to get right in the trenches with us when the need arises. She's the best!

Thank you, Danea, for your dedication to students and fellow staff members!

Runners-up for Person of the Year included Andi Lemon, ASD Teacher, Shannon Woerdehoff, ASD Social Worker, and Duane Peachy, Substitute Teacher. Congratulations to all the honorees!
