Teacher Sarah Klee and Paraprofessional Andy Burton

This year we have a self-contained classroom for students ages 18 – 26 years old with moderate and highly functioning severe cognitive impairments.  Since the students are all adults over the age of 18, our focus is on daily living, work, and functional academic skills.  Daily living skills such as self and home care are addressed throughout the year in order for students to function as independently as possible in their adult lives.   We have several vocational training opportunities during the week including the school laundry, washing lunch trays, lunch prep, as well as other jobs.  Students participate in a token economy earning money to use in community based instruction activities such as ordering from a fast food restaurant, grocery shopping, and using a vending machine independently.
