is a part of the Berrien RESA Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program. This classroom serves students ages six
through nine. Working on basic social skills, such as making eye contact or saying a simple greeting to another person, and working through a visual classroom schedule, are areas of focus for students in D3. They also work hard using "Discrete Trial Training" (DTT). DTT is a way to help students learn to recognize and use basic objects, such as telling the difference between a cup, a bowl, a bell, and a toy car. Other levels of DTT involve students matching an actual object with a picture of the object, such as matching a toy car with a picture of a toy car.
The D3 school day is packed with special times of instruction, like swimming, music, and physical education, as well as learning subject areas such as math, reading, and writing during classroom centers.
